Paladins are a unique hybrid class that can play a whole variety of roles such as healing, damage dealing (DPS) and tanking.

This makes them a popular class in World Of Warcraft because they combine the best of both worlds, with the toughness of a melee fighter, and the healing and spell casting abilities of a priest. Paladins are considered by many to be the hardest of all the classes to kill. The reason is because they can withstand major damage when they are armored in plate and have great overall defensive abilities.

Even though they are tough to inflict damage on, their major weakness is in protecting themselves against spell casters. They are very susceptible to spells such as Mana Burn, which causes shadow damage.

Seals are unique to the Paladin class and are long duration buffs which boost the Paladins power temporarily. Hands are spell buffs cast by the Paladin and can give the target, whether party or raid members, a powerful boost.

The Paladins talent trees are Protection, Holy, and Retribution. Protection is aimed at tanking, while Holy is for healing, and Retribution for melee DPS.

Under the protection tree, Paladins excel in their ability in tanking multiple enemies at the same time by unleashing many different threats such as Hammer Of The Righteous.

Holy Paladins are recognized as one of the most powerful tank healers in World Of Warcraft. By combining Holy Light with the Beacon Of Light, the Paladins power of healing are greatly increased.

Damage output, holy damage and the avoidance of damage are just some of the talents that are part of the Retribution tree. Retribution Paladins can dish out a great deal of damage by increasing their own personal DPS levels, and through abilities such as: Divine Storm and Seal Of Command.

The Paladin class can be played by both races, Alliance and Horde. On the Alliance side, Draenei, Ironforge Dwarf and Human can play as the Paladin. On the Horde side the role of Paladin can be taken on by the Blood Elf and Tauren (Cataclysm expansion).

Since the Paladins ability to stay alive is heavily dependant on Mana, it is important to constantly be monitoring levels and boosting it with tools such as Judgement Of wisdom and Blessing Of Wisdom.

Mana gets depleted by casting spells and by taking part in battle, so make sure you do not spend too much Mana otherwise you will be in a weakened state in which enemies can cause you damage.
